Reality check

You think you are not trying hard enough. You think other people deal with the same things and still get through the day.

You are not weak. You are running on a bank account that went to zero three weeks ago. Pushing harder accelerates depletion. The boring answer is the right one: lie down, breathe slowly, reduce demand.

  • Lie down. This is not giving up. Hands on belly.
  • Coherent breathing for 2 minutes. 5 in through the nose, 5 out. Nothing else. No holds, no effort. This gives without taking.
  • Walk to the nearest window. Thirty seconds of natural light on the retina helps the circadian system.
  • Do not set ambitious goals. Your system is in energy deficit.
  • Do not compare yourself to how you functioned three months ago.
  • Do not exercise hard. The body will interpret intense demand as another stressor.

They push through. They force the gym. They sign up for new commitments. The Weight is the body's demand for restoration, not motivation. The person who lies down and does 10 minutes of coherent breathing recovers faster than the person who forces a 5K run.
